Summary: The Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician is responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of supplies and equipment dispensed by the department following established infection control practices. Works under a combination of direct and indirect supervision by the Lead Technician and the Clinical Coordinator, SPD. The Sterile Processing and DistributionTechnician must be conscientious with regard to procedures and capable of working under pressure and interacting professionally with other departments within the institution, as well as outside sources with which they may have dealings. Must be able to accept new ideas and learn new position duties. Will function in this role for 0-1 year at which time a national certification test will be required. When test is passed, will be promoted to position of Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT).
Requirements: High school graduate or equivalent.
Skills: Knowledge of all general/basic instrumentation, equipment and supplies. Knowledge of the principles of infection control and sterilization. Basic computer skills.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
